GORGEOUS ART NOUVEAU Medusa Snake HUGE bracelet

This fabulous 2 1/2” wide hinged art Nouveau bracelet is just so eerie with the snakes that wrap around Medusa and the intricate raised relief metal work accents! The whole band is etched and it has layers of fancy metal work that depict the woman who could turn men to stone! It is in very good condition and measures 7” long on the inside ( which is oval shaped so it does not slide up and down on your wrist). The clasp works great and it is a very good sturdy gilt bracelet. The rich patina really stands out too! When you wear this, women will envy you and men will adore you till you put that spell on them!

18th CENTURY IVORY Figural MONK Page turner

This is genuine ivory and such a wonderful old carving of a monk with exceptional carving on the blade of the turner. The attention to detail is something that just makes your mouth gape open because the figure is carved with such a lifelike pose. The gentleman looks like st NICK to some but I was told it was a monk who was also some sort of craftsman. He has two tools in his hands and an apron that ties in the back. On his head is a skull cap of sorts. The fleur de lis drapes down the handle of the blade. This measures 10" long and 1" wide and has rich coloring to the aged ivory. This is not bone. As you can see by the photo of his legs in the back he needs repair so he will be sold as is.

RARE Poseidon Mythological Figural victorian stickpin

What a rare treat to see this stickpin with all its mythological background come out of our collection for sale! Poseidon was relied upon by sailors for a safe voyage on the sea. Many men drowned horses in sacrifice of his honor. He lived on the ocean floor in a palace made of coral and gems, and drove a chariot pulled by horses. However, Poseidon was a very moody divinity, and his temperament could sometimes result in violence. When he was in a good mood, Poseidon created new lands in the water and a calm sea. In contrast, when he was in a bad mood, Poseidon would strike the ground with a trident and cause unruly springs and earthquakes, ship wrecks, and drownings.l This pin is 2 1/4” long and the pin itself is either gold or gold filled. The head of the pin is original to this pin and has a great amount of detail to it! In great shape this is quite the collectible piece!

Antique Victorian jeweled LION rose gold filled LOCKET

This roaring lion victorian locket has a simulated diamond colored rhinestone in his mouth and faux sapphires colored stones in his eyes Back in the Victorian period, lions were symbols of courage and strength and was used to impress wrongdoers with the immense power and dignity of the Law. Also associated with royalty, lions are often placed at entranceways as guardians which would make sense since this is the door to the locket. This is rose gold filled and measures a little over 1” long. Inside it has the original paper that reads “The FHS co guaranteed 12 kt gf, absolutely solderless-pat”.
The hinge and clasp work well and it is quite a well made piece. Just needs a little polishing and it is ready to wear. Figural lockets are VERY collectible so don’t miss this at the last minute.

1800's Aesthetic Victorian Garden of EDEN Snake Parure

For the Goddess in all of us, this antique 1800's gilt brass and glass festoon necklace is something to behold! It has repousse snakes and vines and intaglio glass leaves and is a tremendous work of art as well as jewelry. This is OLD OLD OLD. Even the chain which is etched, is hand soldered. The bib is really long and wide ( 5"' long x 4 1/2" wide) and it is even prettier than the photos. The earrings have gold filled french wires with the grape clusters, the intaglio glass leaf and the snake hanging from them. This is a real book piece and I have never seen another like it. The gilt is rich in deep yellows and there is very little if any verdigras. Quite an impressive parure that measures 15 1/2" long around the neck ( an extender can be added ). Can you imagine the dress this must have been worn with? WOW. Don't miss out at the last minute because this is a real beauty! $475.00 Please use this # when ordering ga33358

OLD Memento Masthead angel Harp Necklace enamel & Glass

From what I understand from the history of this, this Brass piece was from a horse that was ridden in a show in England. The owner then had it mounted on this heavy brass necklace so they could have the piece close to their heart. The dearly loved horse has since passed which makes this quite a wonderful memento. Horse brasses were sometimes used to adorn the harness horses, primarily in the UK, many would be for decoration, royalty, shows and different industries such as train or ale. Some older brasses were worn on harness, others were just made primarily to commemorate a certain event. It is hard to date many harness brasses, yet you can get an idea from the patina as well as how well the brass is cast. Stamped brasses are from the early 1900's and only up to the 1930's. Most brasses you come across were cast and often the getts (the holder for the casting) is left partly on the back of the brass. This one is stamped England and at one time was polished to make it into this necklace so you can see a lacquer that is still on it. The center of this is so magnificnet with a ships masthead of a flying angel and a harp with black enamel. The pendant ( or ornament is 3 1/4" long across and the thick triple chain is an additional 23". The center stone on the pendant is dimpled carnival glass. Quite an interesting piece an really lovely when worn. I think the brass could be polished so all of it is non-laquered which would really makes this look pretty too.

PRIMITIVE EARLY STANDING Buddha Architectural BRONZE finial

This is one of the earliest forms of Buddha and the one I am selling is a very old primitive bronze from earlier periods. The face has a well-formed forehead and high cheek-bones, downcast eyes, aquiline nose, small mouth and pointed chin In keeping with the Pagan schema, the ears do not touch the shoulder The clothing on the body has a wet appearance and the outer garment looks as if it is part of the arms. There are three folds across the stomach and a line dividing the garment between the legs. The knee caps are visible through the clothing. As in the few bronze images that have lasted thru the years, the pleating around the periphery of the robe is stiff and stylized. The hands are raised before the breast in the dharmacakra or preaching position. The stance this statue takes comes from the years 1044-1287 . Notice the back hair with the high coiled chignons. This has a metal rod that comes from the back where it would have been placed into another piece of architectural metal. This measures 3 ¾” long and is in great condition.

Antique European silver filigree HUGE MOTH brooch

This is one of the larger butterfly or moth brooches I have seen in the filigree wire. THese are all hand done and the detail in the workmanship is amazing. I can’t even imagine how long it would take to make this. This one is large ( see photo next to a dime) with a 3” wide wingspan. Laced with golden wire it really is like a piece of art. This has patina on it which gives is almost a gothic look. No wire damage along with the sturdiness of this makes it a nice example of an artisan’s craft $65.00

Rare WW2 Sterling Sweetheart WITH carved HEart DATED 1943

Increasingly coveted and valuable as they approach "antique" status, World War II sweetheart jewels are particularly touching pieces of history. This one was made even more special by its owner's great care. If she wore it at all, it would have been very rarely, Dating from 1942-1945, when the U.S. was at war, this is one of the more unusual ones with a heart carved out of the silver coin on the front. This one measures 7” x 1” and contains a substantial amount of sterling silver -- more than you'd expect for such a dainty item. The coins are three and six pence dated 1943

BIZARRE Victorian 14kt ROSE GOLD CLAW & Genuine CORAL Ball Stick pin

The Romantic era and Darwin's theory brought about a new fascination with nature, adding Eden-like symbols such as the serpent, grapes, flowers, and birds to the 'romantic' motif. This , to me is one of the more mysterious symbols. Reminds you of Medieval times when birds would hold the jewels of the queen. This is 14kt rose gold and it holds a real angelskin coral ball that is 10mm. Angelskin coral was popular in the victorian period and is pretty hard to find anymore. This one measures 2 3/4" long and stands out 1/2" wide. In great shape with nice detail this is a real collectible. THe ribs on the pin were to hold delicate materials in place.

Vintage COBALT PORTRAIT LOcket POURED Czech necklace

This is a rarity indeed with the poured Czech glass beads ( no two beads are identical) and this amazing Victorian portrait locket. The cobalt in all the pieces is rich and fit for royalty. The beads are lumpy in shape because each bead is hand done and not cast in a mold where were would be seams. Poured glass is hard to find and when you do it is usually exquisite and rich in color. The beads graduate up to a little over ½" long and between them are floral bead caps. The larger brass filigree beads are gorgeous and they really set off this magnificent cobalt locket. The woman on the front appears to be French and there is black enameling between the ribs of the gilt brass locket. The locket opens on the back and the clasp works well. The necklace is 17" long with an additional 2" for this fancy portrait locket. This is quite a wonderful antique piece and I hope it gets a good home. The beads are in very good condition and the all the gilt brass is rich in patina.

RARE ANTIQUE Ming Dynasty AESTHETIC STERLING SPIDER hair ornaments or Place CARD HOLDERS This is for one of two sets of antique sterling spun spider web large place card holders or Chinese hair ornaments from the 17th Century (Ming period or later) that I have and I can guarantee they are very rare indeed. Completely hand wrought with SIX spiders and webs that are very realistic too!. These measure 2 1/2" across and each is a bit individual from each other. In the late 1800's, Darwin's controversial theories on evolution, as well as new botanical discoveries taking place, created popular interest in the natural world. Some are typical jewelry items, for example - gem set butterflies, gold houseflies, enameled beetles, silver monkeys, etc. But there are also more unusual forms of ornaments. These can be used to hold the place cards for dinner tables and to hold a persons calling card ( because the part that fits in the hair acts a little stand) or as hair ornaments. These are really rare so don't miss out at the last minute.

1800’s HUGE sterling chatelaine charm bracelet mechanical vinaigrette watch key purse & MORE

This is a really rare piece with some of the largest charms I have ever seen on a bracelet ( more like pieces that fit on a chatelaine). Just the purse or letter satchel that opens and closes is 1 1/4” x 1” and has a working latch. ( some of them are photographed near a modern dime so you can see just how large these are). I think most all the pieces are hallmarked too. Everything is sterling or 800 silver. I will give you a list of the charms with as much info as I can about each. The first charm is a working chased miniature button hook that is 1 3/4”. This not only has a loop that hangs it from a chain but it also has a hole that goes all the way thru it so something could be hung from either side of it. Then there is an 1890 Queen Victoria Hong Kong 5 cents. Next is a thick, double sided chased fob with hallmarks that I can’t make out. Next is a golden topaz topped watch key that measures almost 2” long with beautiful etchings on the sides. The purse is hallmarked CAN, an anchor, a lion and a small e. The next coin is a 3 ZEN 1897 that has fancy silver scroll work on the top to hold the coin on. Then there is a silver top to a chatelaine pencil. The lion is next and has a shield with a fleur de lis on it. The next one is a rotating flip fob with genuine bloodstone and carnelian ( carnelian has a crack) and is hallmarked with a small n, an anchor and a lion. The horseshoe is huge ( 1 1/4” long and 1” wide) and is marked WAB PAT 2-07-70 BCM BMC. Then there is a high riding boot with the initials JPH anchor lion and a small r. There is also a number 491553 on the bottom of the boot. Next is a working horse? bell with a red enamel cross and a saddle top and 800 on the top. The next coin is 1878 Victoria DC Brittanniar Regina FD. And last is the most beautiful bird cage shaped pomander or vinaigrette. The thick chain is also sterling and it measures 7 3/4” long. This is not a tourist charm bracelet from the 20th century, but a genuine chatelaine charm bracelet from the 19th century ( 1800’s). The clasp works fine and all the charms are in very good condition. This is a real find and I hope it gets a good home because I think these are all original to this bracelet.

Paris is one of the most beautiful places in the world and this bracelet is a wonderful vintage keepsake from that romantic place! This tourist bracelet from the 30-40’s has the Eiffel tower along with other wonderful landmarks in raised relief on this solid bracelet. Even the fob charm has the fully dimensional Eiffel tower. This is not plated and seems to be some sort of solid silver metal. It measures from 8 to 9 ½" ( don’t you love extenders so anyone can wear this>?) and is 1 ½" wide. Great shape and well made this is a really pretty gothic looking piece.

20's DECO Mary Gregory Glass rhinestone stickpin

What an adorable Victorian child in her ruffed dress and bonnet! This is reverse painted and it measures 1 ¾" long. I think it may be a Mary Gregory piece because she is easily recognized by simplicity and naïve charm. There is a myth that Mary Gregory (Miss) was an old lady who painted the children she longed for but never had. The painted and enameled decoration consists of children in silhouette, typically Victorian and quite similar to the illustrations by Britain's Kate Greenaway. These children could be flying kites, bowling hoops, blowing bubbles or simply playing, usually surrounded by grass, foliage or fern. They are dressed in typical Victorian 'Sunday Best' clothes, usually knickerbockers, sailor suits or crinolines.!This is a reverse etched intaglio glass head two piece stick pin. THe bottom part has a screw on piece that is of paste rhinestones. The top has the large glass head piece that is 2" long and has a paste rhinestone upswept setting. The total length is 4". IT is a rare fine to get one that is not broken much less one with the ornate setting this one has.

TREMENDOUS DECO Intaglio Glass nymph CHILD BIG Stickpin

The photos will give you an idea of how beautiful this is, but to see it in person is ever more extraordinary. The head on this is 1 ¾" tall and 1 ¼" wide and is original to this pin. Notice the fancy filigree base and inside the glass you can see where the metal goes up into the glass. The girl or young woman is dancing with a ribbon. Possibly a ballerina or having to do with the maypole. The arrow cap end has a genuine paste brilliant rhinestone that just sparkles like no other . The total length is 3 ¾" long and is in very good condition. I don‘t see any chips or nicks in this either. Truly a wonderful piece for hat and stickpin and glass collectors. $135.00 use this number when ordering ga130068832572

RARE Chinese FIGURAL VINAIGRETTE biZARRE Silver BIG

Imagine my amazement to find this secret compartment in this very old silver fish pendant or chatelaine necessary. This fish was so detailed to begin with ( see close-ups) that you can tell where the newer reproductions actually started from. He is one of the early originals and he is 3 ½" long. Under his mouth are these straight designs that are actually the door to this exceptional piece of art. I have never seen so much work in one piece to make it do so much. OF course the fish is designed to bend and move but it is also designed to hold a piece of cotton which would hold a scent or even smelling salts. The latch works great on this and the only thing missing is its original piece of cotton. He is EXTREMELY well made and a really impressive piece too. All his gills are hinged except one in the center bottom and it looks like it was made that way. If you collect perfumes are antique Chinese pieces then this will definitely be one of a kind that no one else has. His eye is real turquoise too and he is marked China on his inner lip. I guaranteed it is OLD.

BIzarre BEE HIVE hidden compartment poison necklace

What an interesting piece this is with the hidden compartment inside this silver hive. The bee on top seems to be guarding whatever is inside. This is really well made with a silver rollo chain that is 28" long. The hive is 1 ½" long and has a very good sturdy clasp and hinge. This looks as if it has never been worn and is a very good quality necklace.

Edwardian seed pearl turquoise SNAKE Brooch earrings

Victorian people used snakes and serpents in many pieces of their jewelry and now they have become quite the rage to be able to find them. This one is made of two intricately wrapped snakes protecting the turquoise marquise center stone. But if you look close you will see the tiniest seed pearls ever made set into their backs. The matching screw on earrings have the same seed pearls and the beautiful raised relief that you see in victorian metal work. The brooch is 1 3/4" x 1 1/4" and the earrings are almost 1" long. These are gold filled and quite exotic!

RARE 14KT GOLD PRe Civil war Aesthetic brooch

YUP, more from the LOUISIANA estate that has VOODOO and strange items that are out of our personal collection of , well lets say, a little creepy but totally rich in history of times when things were not written down, only passed along. This 14kt solid gold brooch has TEETH ( yup, REAL teeth) in it and as far as I can determine they are animal. In a rose colored world, I would like to think that someone loved their pet and once they passed kept these and had them mounted to cherish the memory. In a not so perfect world this did come from an estate where things were a bit creepy with voodoo and some not so explainable things came from. I am leaving this one up to you . This is marked 14kt and it is really quite a beautiful piece, teeth and all. Just look at the metalwork on this and you can tell it was made by a craftsman and the person who owned it was not a poor person. The estate we got these from was an antebellum ( period immediately prior to the Civil War (1861-1865). ( pre civil war ) plantation house in Louisiana . I do know that the family was very prestigious and they were wealthy plantation cotton kings. This is in really great condition and something you will probably never see again, much less with the limited history I have for it. IF you want to own a piece of folk lore or possibly a very real piece of the Louisiana culture, then this piece will certainly do the trick. It is 2 ½" long, ¾" at its widest and ½" thick. NOT a reproduction and in complete ORIGINAL condition. Don’t miss out at the last minute!

Vintage ART NOUVEAU Galalith CAMEO Black Bracelet
 |
In 1898, Wilhelm Krische, patented one of the first plastics. But he had no way of knowing that 30 years later, Coco Chanel would take the "milk stone" and would help it make a final breakthrough in the costume jewelry industry. It is indeed usually French, but also was produced in Germany. French Bakelite or Galalith was used in the 1920’s- 1930’s and as is so often the case in the world of inventions, discovered by accident. Krische was commissioned to develop white school boards that could be wiped off but that would not burn, as German teachers no longer wanted to write on blackboards using white chalk, but instead wanted to get their message across black on white. Although critical experiments with the milk protein casein were in vain with regard to the original commission, the horn-like plastic from the element of milk had been discovered, even if no one really knew what to use it for. Krische put the finishing touches to his discovery in cooperation with the chemist Adolf Spitteler. They even changed and improved its characteristics by treating casein with formaldehyde. Galalith, the material made of milk, reached its absolute golden age shortly before the Second World War. Shortly after this, the production of galalith for jewelry purposes was initially restricted and then even banned. Upon the outbreak of war, milk was needed primarily for daily nutritional requirements, while the residual production of galalith was primarily for electro-technical purposes. After the end of the war, the material was suppressed by modern plastics that could be cast and heat-molded. This is a very early Galalith cameo bracelet with just a hint of red on the edges. The photos show that if you look closely. The cameo woman is very Art nouveau with flowing hair and a dress that drapes over her shoulder with flowers. The soft porcelain like skin makes her quite the catch!. The bangle measures 8” long on the inside and is 1 ¼” at its widest. IT has the feel of bakelite with the slick feeling you get when you rub your fingers across it, but it does not test as bakelite. Other than a small chip on her backing frame she is in very good condition and really needs a home where she will be loved and adored.

Vintage ormolu jeweled Bacchus Victorian figural belt

You won’t see ones like this often with faces on every other link and the double buckle. In raised relief, Bacchus the God of Wine with his mythological background really makes this an exciting piece!. The color is a rich gold that is unlike a yellow plate in newer pieces. This has the hint of a red bronze that makes the gold color the same as ormolu pieces you see from the 18th century. Add to this the amethyst color faceted czech stones and you have a piece that belongs in a museum. This has been so well cared for and has so much character that you would be the envy of many when you wear or display this. The length when closed is 27” and the widest point is 2”. If you collect victorian clothes and need the perfect belt to finish off an elaborate dress, or just want to wear this stunning belt, you would have people drooling to know where you got this beauty!

RARE enamel Military Hat locket BRooch & ORIGINAL CARD

With crossed rifles on the back of this to support the photo, this WW11 enamel military helmet lifts up to to reveal an old photo fo Humphrey Bogart?. I believe this was the original photo that came with it when it was first sold. I know that CORO made a number of military lockets and brooches to help support the soldiers at war. I don’t know of any other manufacturers that made these so I would attribute it to them. This one measures 1 1/2” long and is made so that the hinge is on the top. When you lift it up you see the photo. I find it really interesting to see the rifles that form the frame on the back of the locket. This has a C clasp pin back to attach it to a dress or shirt. The card is original as is the locket. The locket has never been worn ( and I don’t think it was ever off the card before I took this photo. The carboard background has MILITARY HAT LOCKET and “wear his picture tip hat back”.
IN very good original condition, this is a real TREASURE!!!
